✨ Can y’all believe that it’s already July ✨
Between birthdays, vacation, weekend adventures, & of course Independence Day, for most of us this month is as busy as December. I think it’s safe to say that summer break is in full swing.
With that being said, finding the time to breathe is hard. But finding the time to stay dedicated in the Word, well that can feel dang near impossible.
Since it’s summer break & mama I know you’re busy, I’ll just get right to it…Here are my favorite ways to keep myself on track in a nutshell.
✨ Prioritize ✨
Over the years I’ve learned that what is important to me, I make a priority. I’d never not feed my kid or my dog, so why would I not feed my spirit? Simply put, decide that no matter what happens today, you will spend time in the Word.
✨ Do It First ✨
As simple as this may sound, it is by far the easiest. I keep my Bible on my bedside to remind me first thing to read it. But, Sherri, you might say, “I’m too tired to read as soon as I wake up”. I got you girl! Download a free app like E-Sword that has an audio version. Now when you wake up you can hear the Word being read aloud while having your coffee. This is how I start my day on the right foot.
✨ Create A Reading or Study Goal ✨
I like to keep a few reading options for my Bible study time throughout the day. This way if I get too busy, I can rest easy knowing that I’ve made connecting with Jesus a priority.
- In the “Do It First” example, I like to listen to three chapters in the morning. I just start with Genesis 1 & listen to the whole Bible three chapters at a time.
- I set a twenty minute timer & I “Write The Word” until the timer goes off. I use guided study journals to help me focus on a particular word that I need. But, you could just pick a chapter & start writing, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy or for twenty minutes. It’s about you & being with Jesus…that’s it.
- Listen to audio teachings while commuting, cleaning the house, or in the shower. Sherri! That’s not “focusing” on the Word! Listen, there’s not some invisible rule that says, “You can’t multitask with Jesus”. He wants to spend time with you…Any time you’ve got it!
- This one may seem silly, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a verse on a bumper sticker or billboard & checked it out when I got home, & realized that, that was just the Word I needed. So don’t ignore the still small voice of the Holy Spirit.
Don’t forget that while you’re making memories with your loved ones you can still spend time with the One who first loved you.
